🎉 Birth Journeys Update 🎉

We are thrilled to announce that Vermont Doula Company is acquiring Birth Journeys!

Founded in 2001 by Amy and Phillanne Armstrong, Birth Journeys has been a trusted name in the community for over 20 years, offering essential prenatal education such as childbirth education, infant feeding, CPR courses, and more. Since 2012, this beloved company has grown under the loving guidance of Genevieve Henry, Jenna Thayer, and Rachel Stanton. While Amy, Phillanne, and Jenna have moved on to other projects, their vision and heart live on in the work that Birth Journeys continues to do.

Led most recently by the amazing Rachel Stanton and Genie Henry, Birth Journeys has made a lasting impact through its commitment to empowering expecting parents and collaborating with local providers. At Vermont Doula Company, we are deeply honored to carry forward this incredible legacy.

Vermont Doula Company will continue offering families the same quality education and support Birth Journeys has always been known for. With certified, experienced educators, their classes will remain up-to-date, evidence-based, and taught by professional educators who are specialists in birth and infant care. They are committed to providing families with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions and have empowered birth and parenting experiences.

VDC also embraces the values Birth Journeys has always stood for. Their team is dedicated to promoting justice and equality in every aspect of our work and will proudly continue to donate a portion of our earnings to Birth Justice each month and offer our online classes free of charge to the BIPOC community.

Mary Kate Shanahan and Haley Parizo, VDC’s Co-Founders, are so grateful to Rachel and Genie for entrusting us with their beloved company and are appreciative of the incredible dedication and the love they’ve poured into this work over the years. VDC promises to nurture and grow Birth Journeys with the same passion, care, and commitment.

“We very much enjoyed the class.  We found it incredibly informative, especially the last class where we discussed post-pregnancy.  Genie was a fantastic teacher and we felt that all of our questions were answered.”

We recently attended a weekend child birth education class, in preparation of our first childbirth experience, which we loved! The women were helpful, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to learn from. Overall we felt the class provided context to some of the information that we’ve heard, we learned some techniques and options to provide comfort and support, and the hospital tour was very helpful. Also, they just moved in to a new space with Mamava – which was amazing! We would recommend this course, and these women for anyone who is expecting!
